Clara Miguel, Mathias Harrer, Eirini Karyotaki, Constantin Yves Plessen, Marketa Ciharova, Toshi Furukawa, Ioana Cristea, Pim Cuijpers
PDF
The current project aims to examine whether self-report and clinician-rated instruments result in comparable outcomes in psychotherapy trials for depression. We will investigate this in trials that reported both types of outcome measures. These trials will be selected from a living meta-analytical database on psychological interventions for depression. We will run several meta-analytic models on the included trials to examine systematic differences between patient and clinician assessments of depression symptoms at post-treatment.

The effectiveness of self-guided interventions in adults with depressive symptoms: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Lingyao Tong, Olga Maria Panagiotopoulou, Pim Cuijpers, Eirini Karyotaki
PDF
Self-guided interventions often come in various formats (e.g., computer programs, mobile apps, internet, or manuals) with multiple support levels (e.g., no support, automated feedback, or human encouragement). The present study examines the effectiveness of self-guided interventions on depressive symptoms. Further, in subgroup analyses, we will examine whether different formats and levels of support result in differential effects in self-guided interventions.

To the best of our knowledge, there has been no specific meta-analysis examining the efficacy of all psychotherapies for SAD for almost 15 years; thus, it is imperative to update and supplement the previous meta-analytic research (Acarturk et al., 2009; Powers et al., 2008). In this project we will examine the efficacy of psychotherapy compared to control conditions in reducing symptom severity in adults with SAD. We aim to provide an up-to-date overview of the field, with the most robust estimations of treatment efficacy and moderators that may influence the studies’ effects.
